Two big events to benefit Autism Speaks are coming up.  One involves star power, the other, step power.  The 2014 Chef Gala for Autism Speaks features the stars of The Chew, Cleveland's own Michael Symon and special guest Mario Batali on August 9, at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Walk Now for Autism Speaks is the other event Laura Hoffman, Director of Field Development for Northeast Ohio for Autism Speaks discusses in this interview. It will take place on Sunday, September 14 at Progressive Field.

Money Talks for Autism Speaks

A big fundraiser last weekend drew many of Cleveland's best chefs together to benefit Autism Speaks. Michael Symon hosted the event, where big money was raised.  The cause is very close to Chef Brian Doyle's heart.  The chef for the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern and the founder of Sowfood, his CSA (Chef Supported Agriculture) is also the father of an autistic child, and is closely involved with the local chapter of Autism Speaks.

Chef Doyle talks about his son Logan in this interview.  He is joined by Eileen Hawkins, whose organization, The Autism Society of Greater Cleveland  provides education and resources to families in Northeast Ohio.

Walk Now for Autism Speaks is coming up September 22 at Voinovich Park.

Sow Food: Chef Supported Agriculture In Cleveland

Community Supported Agriculture farms are supplying more and more food to customers throughout Northeast Ohio.  The Sow Food farm is slightly different in its operation and mission, in that meals prepared with locally grown ingredients are supplied to customers by chef Brian Doyle.

Chef Doyle tells Jim about his farm and the meals he prepares every week for customers of Sow Food.
