We recorded the Friends of Jane forum held at the House of Blues Cleveland prior to the concert on September 15th, 2014, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Beatles first performance in Cleveland, and Jane Scott's first assignment on the music beat for the Plain Dealer. Former DJ Billy Bass, Artist Manager David Spero, the Plain Dealer's Michael Heaton, Cleveland music legend Michael Stanley and Dawn Kendrick of 19 Action news all shared stories about Jane. And 11th Hour host Tom Kelly, acting as moderator, went into the audience to capture memories from others in attendance as well.

The event was meant not only to celebrate the anniversary, but also to raise funds for a documentary about Jane and her storied career.

The forum preceded the concert, featuring the band Beau Coup, Michael Stanley, and the Beatles tribute band 1964.  At the end of the forum two members of the band, who play John Lennon and Paul McCartney make a brief appearance.

Friends Of Jane, Fans Of The Beatles Celebrate

50 years ago to the day the Beatles first played in Cleveland, the tribute band 1964 will play at the House of Blues downtown.  But there a more profound purpose for the 50th anniversary celebration of the Beatles performance at Public Hall; it's also a fundraiser for the Friends of Jane, a growing group of supporters of Jane Scott, the late Plain Dealer music writer who worked well into her 80s.  Friends of Jane are trying to raise the money to make a documentary about the journalist, known as "the world's oldest teenager."  Net proceeds of the ticket sales will benefit the making of the film tentatively titled "Jane Scott Rocks."

WHK brought the Beatles to Cleveland in September of 1964.  Current WHK talk show host Tom Kelly and the Plain Dealer's "Minister of Culture," Michael Heaton are the driving forces behind the 50th anniversary celebration of Jane Scott and The Beatles in Cleveland.  In this interview, Heaton describes the life and times of the beloved reporter.

Heaton says music legend Michael Stanley will open the House of Blues show on September 15, 2014 with an acoustic set of Beatles music. 1964 will follow, replicating the exact set list the Beatles played in Cleveland on September 15, 1964.

Michael Heaton Reminisces About His Father Chuck

Michael Heaton, the Plain Dealer's Minister of Culture discusses his late father, the great Plain Dealer sportswriter Chuck Heaton, after whom an award has been named by The Press Club of Cleveland.

Michael also discusses the career of his TV star sister Patricia Heaton, his movie The Christmas Heart, and the screenplay he has written for a film about the late Plain Dealer rock critic Jane Scott.

Michael has written Truth and Justice For Fun And Profit: Collected Reporting, and has co-written I'll Be Right Back: Memories of TV's Greatest Talk Show, with the late Mike Douglas and AM 1420 The Answer's Tom Kelly.
